First day to request an absentee ballot:  August 27 is the first day we can receive the requests.  To mail an absentee, we must have the requests by Monday, October 21 – 5:00 PM.  After that date, cannot mail and must vote in office or at polls on Election Day. Link to absentee ballot request:  https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/pdf/absenteeballotapp.pdf

Date the absentee ballots must be received:  Voted absentee ballots must be received in the County Auditor's Office by the close of polls on election day (November 5 – 8:00 PM).  They may be dropped off at the courthouse or mailed.  They DO NOT have a drop box.  Also only family members residing in the same household may deliver a voted ballot for another family member.

Satellite polling sites:  Currently there is one (1) petition received for a satellite polling location.  That is scheduled for Monday, October 21 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Drake Library in Grinnell.

In-person voting hours: Voting at the courthouse begins Wednesday, October 16 from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM with an extended hour to 5:00 PM on October 21 and November 1 and November 2 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Final note: Voters can register to vote through October 21.  After October 21, they can still register but will need to show BOTH proof of identity (see ID noted above) AND residency (document showing residence address, such as utility bill, bank statement, cell phone bill, tax statement, government check, etc. - electronic format is acceptable).  Voters can register at satellites and on election day.  Just remember after October 21, more documents required and more time required in order to register and vote.
